I started this post about 6 times while still up in Minnesota and didn't ever get to finish. We are now back in Italy after traveling to the states for Joe's Mom's memorial service. Sadly, she passed away just before Christmas. Of course, we are all feeling quite sad but are taking comfort in the fact that she is no longer in pain and that we were able to say our goodbyes. She will always be remembered as a loving mother and grandmother.
It was wonderful to see how the family came together to honor Dianne and worked together to take care of everything. We spent almost 2 weeks in the states because it was very important to Joe to help his family. We also got to spend lots of time with our Minnesota family and friends. This was an important reminder to us to truly cherish every precious moment we get with the ones we love.

Oh, my God. Carrie, I am SO sorry to hear this! I vaguely remember you mentioning a year ago that she was ill. . . I'm glad that you got to say good-bye to her. We were glad we got to see Derrick's mom before she passed away, too. Grieving is a LONG process. Tell Joe that he's in our prayers.
